Mary Dancey, owner and principle of Mary Dancey Interiors, is a proud accredited member of CDECA : TheCanadian Decorators Association of Canada. Mary recently became a board member of CDECA and is now the Director of Membership as well as a volunteer on the National Design Show Events committee for CDECA. After owning two successful retail business Mary chose to stay home to raise her family for 10 years. Once the youngest went to school full time Mary decided it was time to go back to school to learn more about her life long love of everything, that is, decorating and design.Mary’s love of beautiful things, space, light , colour and how they can all play beautifully together lead her to graduating, with honours, from the Humber College Interior Decorating program. After managing a clients small renovation Mary went back to Humber and obtained a certificate in Construction Project Management. She returned back to Humber Collage this past spring and is now working on a certificate in Auto CAD. Mary knows that knowledge is power. In the spring of 2010 Mary designed and decorated a model home that was built in the arena for the Caledon Home Show in Bolton. It was a tremendous experience, working with only local businesses, to show area consumers just what was available to them in their own backyard. Mary has volunteered for several years in the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity on the Family Selection Committee and helped with sourcing product for the builds wherever needed. She has also volunteered her talents to other community-based projects such as the Lion’s Club renewal, CRIC- Community Improvement Committee and The Mill fundraisers as well as taking part in fund-raising events for My Sisters Place, the local women’s shelter. |
